Culturally Responsive Care
This course offers a Culturally Responsive Care workshop designed to help participants understand culturally responsive care and equip them with tools to increase their ability to provide cross-cultural care. It includes definitions of culture and cultural competency; explains how understanding health inequities is foundational to moving forward in understanding and providing culturally responsive care; discusses barriers to effective cross -cultural interactions; and identifies tools and resources to improve cross-cultural care and reduce health disparities. The curriculum is adapted from an evidence-based curriculum called Communicating Across Boundaries, originally developed with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and adapted for use in a variety of health and human service settings by Marilyn Gardner and Cathy Romeo.
