Onboarding & Training Best Practices: Integrating New Staff into Existing Workflows and Culture

Does your ACO seek support integrating new staff members hired from the community into practice-level workflows and culture? Intrepid Ascent has robust experience supporting organizations to develop successful onboarding strategies and training plans, including evaluation of existing workflows and practices, workflow redesign to meet new program needs, and targeted training and post-training based on industry expertise and best practices. We will guide ACOs through a thoughtful and informed end-to-end process. Activities will be tailored and may include:

  • Clarify goals and evaluate existing workflows and culture through interviews with leadership and key staff
  • Develop an onboarding strategy for effective collaboration between team members, based on workflow evaluation and staff input
  • Design a comprehensive training plan, including assessments to meet staff’s learning needs and to measure a learner’s success, and post-training support activities such as elbow support and/or learning collaboratives
  • Implement the training plan, using best-in-class trainers and support services
  • Continue ongoing support for effective integration of new staff members, such as leadership coaching, and change management and communication support services
  • Evaluate the success of onboarding and training and offer improvement strategies as needed
