Health Literacy Overview Webinar
A patient’s health literacy is their ability to read, understand, and use health care information to make informed decisions and modify behaviors that affect their personal healthcare needs. Promoting health literacy creates a more collaborative care environment, one that empowers patients to have greater agency in, and control over, their own care decisions.
Following this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Define health literacy.
- List at least three consequences of low health literacy.
- Describe components of health literacy.
- Outline the factors that contribute to low health literacy.
- Demonstrate teach-back.
- Explain the evidence for using teach-back.
This webinar is designed for health professionals interested in improving their health literacy skills.
The workshop can be customized based on the goals and objectives of the sponsoring organization.
